Google gives sneak peak to new Chrome OS

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Last week Google gave a sneak peak of their new Operating System.  Like their new browser, the new OS will be named Chrome as well.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/20/technology/companies/20chrome.htm

It seems that Chrome will be a game changer.  No longer will you need to install software on individual PCs but instead you will be able to access documents and programs via the web.  It wont be long and we will all be living in the Clouds.

What Can I Do To Gear Up My Marketing Plan for 2010?

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

It’s that time of year again. The time companies gather management in a conference room to figure out their marketing budgets for 2010. For many small to mid-size companies, this year might be the first year you have considered devoting much attention to online marketing.

If you haven’t thought about integrating a Pay-Per-Click, or SEO marketing campaign into your 2010 marketing budget, the good news is you are not too late. In fact, the state of our economy might have you looking for ways to do more with the same or less budget. Thankfully, online advertising is a great way to get a lot of bang for your buck.

A June 2009 survey by the Association of National Advertisers (ANA) revealed that the No. 1 strategy for marketers, who wanted to improve effectiveness without spending more, was shifting from traditional to digital media. More than one-half of respondents also reported shifting spending away from brand-building initiatives, and 38% were putting more spending into lower-cost media. Marketing online fits all 3 of these criteria.

Bing Removes Beta Label and Retires MSNbot 1.1

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

Bing Removes UK Beta label:

Microsoft has removed the beta tag from the UK version. The daily Bing Homepage image and hotspots are something that now will be localized in the UK, with unique imagery and hotspots. Another element being more localized is real-time results with Bing Twitter search.

There is now an integrated shopping experience with Ciao UK. With Bing you can search the Internet to find the best prices, reviews and local availability. Visual search results and metadata will make search more visual and more compelling. More Instant Answers will be given to UK users. Such as how is Liverpool doing in the Premiership, or which tourist attraction should I see this weekend?

Bing’s New Search Engine Bot:

The Bing.com search engine made some big steps this week in regards to their future.  On the November 4th Bing announced the new bot, named MSNbot 2.0b. Bing inherited MSNBot 1.1 from Live Search, which according to sources says that it will not last until the end of the year.

Rick Dejarnette, of Bing Webmaster Center revealed; “we have made numerous improvements in its performance, addressed some webmaster concerns, and published detailed information on how to control the bot with a robots.txt file. Today we are announcing that the new bot is fully operational. This development will enable Bing to do a better job at gathering the information we need from the myriad of websites we index worldwide”.
